The knit is polyester, so it holds shape and colour through washing and resists the stretching-out that afflicts long natural-fibre cardigans at the elbow and hem. It has no fastening and is meant to be worn open over whatever is underneath, which is what makes it useful as a layer over both a dress and a jean-and-tee combination.
