4 mm Rope Chain Necklace, Marked 925 Sterling Silver

A classic 4 mm rope chain in metal marked 925 sterling silver, built from twisted link pairs that spiral around the length of the chain. The rope construction is what gives this style its particular look: because the links sit at an angle to one another, the chain catches light along its whole length instead of only on the flat faces, so it reads brighter than a curb or box chain of the same width. At 4 mm it is substantial enough to wear on its own against an open collar but still slim enough to carry a pendant without the two competing. Two lengths are offered, 20 inches and 24 inches; 20 inches sits at the base of the neck on most adults, while 24 inches falls to around the top of the sternum and is the more common choice for men or for layering. The chain closes with a lobster clasp. Solid sterling rather than plated base metal means it can be polished back when it tarnishes instead of wearing through to a different colour underneath.
